King Street Bridge
Connico provided cost estimating for the project.
Project Details
Connico provided design cost estimating for the project that included the repairs of the existing King Street Bridge at Joint Base Langley Eustis (JBLE). The project included resurfacing pavement at either end of the bridge and structural repairs of the actual bridge structure. Elements of the project included erosion and undermining at the South approach, temporary construction items, traffic control devices, concrete sealing, crack repair, concrete patching, resealing and replacing expansion joints, curb removal as well as asphalt and concrete pavement, fencing, signage, curbs, and gutters.
Connico encountered some variations from our standard procedures in developing this estimate. At request of JBLE, the estimate needed to be broken out by labor, equipment, and material costs. While this is not an abnormal request, early stages of design contained limited detail on construction specifics. Each category required a unique approach to pricing to represent a broad range of potential materials and construction means and methods, with anticipated variance as the project progressed.
