Terminal Study at OAK

Connico provided cost estimating for this aviation terminal project.

Project Details

Connico provided rough order of magnitude cost estimating for preliminary alternatives and phasing analysis for the terminal study that is part of the terminal modernization and development project at Oakland San Francisco Bay Airport (OAK). The project consisted of analysis for the modernization of Terminal 1 (T1) and Terminal 2 (T2), as well as the design of a New Terminal. The scope of work consisted of the following options/alternatives:

  • Alternative 1A included International Gate Expansion, new Southwest Airlines (WN) 19 Gate Terminal, a third International Gate, T2 Outbound Baggage Expansion, Building M101 Replacement and Building M102/Federal Inspection Services (FIS) Building Refurbishment, T1 Concourse Optimization, T2 Headhouse Renovation, T2 Frontage Gates Optimization, T2 Concourse Optimization, and WN Terminal Expansion.
  • Alternative 1A-2 included International Gate Expansion, new WN 10 Gates Terminal / FIS Expansion, T2 Concourse and Frontage Gates Optimization, T1 Gate Optimization for NW Gates, T2 Outbound Baggage Expansion, M101 Replacement & M102/FIS Building Refurbishment, T2 Headhouse Renovation, TN 10 Gate Double-Loaded Concourse, T1 International Gate Capacity, and WN Terminal Expansion.
  • Alternative 1B included International Gate Expansion, new Other Airline (OAL)/International 8 Gates Terminal / FIS Expansion, T1 Gate Optimization for 10 NW Gates, T2 Outbound Baggage Expansion, Building M101 Replacement and Building M102/FIS Building Refurbishment, T2 Frontage Gates Optimization, T2 Concourse Optimization, T2 Headhouse Renovation, OAL/International New Terminal Double-Loaded Concourse, and OAL/International New Terminal Expansion.

OAK is located in a higher-end market where infrastructure costs tend to be steeper, so Connico accounted for those in the estimates that we prepared as well as the unknowns of tariffs and the associated market volatility.
