Our latest employee spotlight shines bright on Fabian Guevara, analyst II at Connico. Fabian joined the Connico team in January 2023 and has since brought unique and fresh perspectives, particularly within the Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) department. With a background in industrial and systems engineering and a minor in engineering project management, Fabian’s expertise is helping to drive innovation and efficiency in various projects. In addition to his role at Connico, Fabian holds an Engineer In Training (EIT) Certification and is involved in several professional organizations, including the Airports Consultants Council, where he serves as a member of the Education and Accreditation Committee.

How does Connico support your personal growth and development?

From day one, Connico has been incredibly supportive of my personal growth. They’ve encouraged me to pursue training and certifications, and I’ve had opportunities to attend many industry conferences. I appreciate that I also have the freedom to choose my career path, which empowers me to align my professional development with my interests and goals.

What has been your favorite moment at Connico so far?

One of my favorite moments at Connico was when I had the opportunity to participate in the 2024 Reclaiming the Sky Resiliency Project, an essay contest created to engage up-and-coming airport industry leaders, organized by Airports Council International - North America (ACI-NA) and the Human Resiliency Institute at Fordham University. It was a unique chance to be part of something that has a long-term impact, not only on the industry but on society as a whole, and I was fortunate to win second place! 

How does Connico prioritize diversity and diverse perspectives?

At Connico, every voice matters. With team members from various backgrounds and over ten languages spoken among our about 40 employees, we foster a rich tapestry of perspectives. This diversity not only enhances our creativity but also strengthens our collaborative efforts, enabling us to improve as a team every day.

What’s your best advice for young professionals entering the industry?

Don’t be afraid to ask questions, push for more, and believe in yourself. The industry can seem daunting at first, but embracing curiosity and staying confident in your abilities will set you up for success.

What’s a fun fact about you that many people may not know?

I am scared of cockroaches!

What’s your favorite travel destination and why?

Iceland and Switzerland are my favorite travel destinations because of their amazing landscapes. The natural beauty of these places is breathtaking, and I love exploring their unique environments.
